Fostering Inclusive Communities for Senior with Hearing Loss (FICS) Project

Fostering Inclusive Communities for Seniors (FICS) is a collective impact initiative led by the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association and the Interprofessional Primary Care Team (IPCT) focused on strengthening our programs and services to better support seniors experiencing hearing loss.

The project provides community members, staff, volunteers, and service providers with practical tools and knowledge to better understand hearing loss and respond in more inclusive ways.

FICS offers the following services and supports:.

  • Workshops and training for service providers and community agencies to better understand hearing loss and how to best support older adults
  • Volunteer recruitment and training strategies designed for engaging and retaining older adult volunteers
  • Workshops for older adults and the general public to better understand hearing loss and its effects
